Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 3, 2026

This page is a working policy for Home Projects. It is provided for transparency and product use — it is not personalized legal advice. Consider having an attorney review these terms, especially before offering paid plans or marketing broadly.

This Privacy Policy explains how Charles Romeis, operating as Home Projects ("Home Projects," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, related interfaces, and services (the "Service").

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by Charles Romeis, as a sole proprietor doing business as Home Projects, from New York, United States.

Contact for privacy requests: romeischarlie@gmail.com.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

  • Account information — such as email address, name/display name, and authentication identifiers, provided through our auth provider (Clerk).
  • Project content you provide — project descriptions, skill level, scope, extra context, questions you ask, and saved project data.
  • Generated content — guides, answers, confidence signals, and related outputs created for you.
  • Usage and technical data — IP address, device/browser information, timestamps, and basic logs from our hosting and security systems (for example Vercel and Clerk).
  • Optional future features — if we add photos, notes, or payments, we will process that data for those features and update this Policy when material.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service (including generating DIY guides and answers).
  • Measure product usage and funnel depth (for example searches and feature use) so we can improve the Service and evaluate marketing. Search text may be stored in truncated form for this purpose.
  • Authenticate you, secure accounts, and prevent abuse or fraud.
  • Enforce freemium limits (for example free question counts).
  • Communicate about the Service (transactional messages, important notices).
  • Comply with law and protect our rights and users' safety.

4. Artificial intelligence and third-party processors

Parts of the Service use third-party infrastructure. In particular:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management.
  • Supabase — database storage for saved projects and related records.
  • Vercel — hosting and delivery of the web application.
  • OpenAI— we may send project prompts, context, and questions to OpenAI's API to generate guides and answers. Do not submit secrets, passwords, or highly sensitive personal data in prompts.
  • Google / YouTube — we may use YouTube APIs to find educational video links for projects.
  • Serper (web search) — we may send project topic and related brand/model search queries to a web search provider so we can return live article and manufacturer documentation links rather than invented URLs.
  • Meta (Facebook) — we may use the Meta Pixel on the website so Meta can measure ad performance (for example page views after someone clicks an ad). The pixel uses cookies or similar identifiers. We do not send your email or phone number to Meta through this pixel.

These providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Sharing

We may share information with:

  • Service providers listed above (as needed to run the Service).
  • Professional advisors (legal, accounting) under confidentiality as needed.
  • Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • A successor if the Service is transferred (we will notify you if required).

6. Retention

We retain account and project data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. We may retain limited logs for security and legal compliance. You may request deletion (see below).

7. Your choices and rights

  • You can update account details through the Service's auth provider controls.
  • You may request access to or deletion of your personal data by emailing romeischarlie@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law (for example access, correction, deletion). We will honor requests as required.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to our size and the nature of the Service (including HTTPS, access controls, and third-party providers' security practices). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. International users

We primarily operate from the United States. If you access the Service from elsewhere, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S. and other locations where our providers operate.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

We and our providers use cookies or local storage as needed for sign-in sessions, preferences, essential service functionality, anonymous analytics identifiers, and (on the website) Meta advertising measurement cookies. You can block third-party scripts with browser or extension settings; core DIY features still work without Meta.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
