Terms of Service

Effective date: August 3, 2026

This page is a working policy for Home Projects. It is provided for transparency and product use — it is not personalized legal advice. Consider having an attorney review these terms, especially before offering paid plans or marketing broadly.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Home Projects (the "Service"), operated by Charles Romeis, operating as Home Projects. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Home Projects provides AI-assisted tools that organize DIY / home-project information (such as overviews, tools and materials lists, steps, safety notes, FAQs, and links to third-party videos or articles). Features may change, and free usage limits may apply.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is intended for adults undertaking home projects at their own risk.

3. Accounts

Some features (such as saving projects) require an account via our authentication provider. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and notify us of unauthorized use.

4. Critical DIY, safety, and professional disclaimer

THE SERVICE IS FOR GENERAL INFORMATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.

  • We are not a licensed contractor, plumber, electrician, engineer, inspector, or other professional services firm.
  • Content may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong — including AI-generated text, steps, tool lists, and linked third-party materials.
  • Always follow manufacturer instructions, local building codes, permit requirements, and product labeling. When in doubt — especially involving gas, main electrical panels, load-bearing structure, roofs, mold remediation, or hazardous materials — hire a licensed professional.
  • You are solely responsible for shutoffs, PPE, safe tool use, property conditions, and outcomes of any project you undertake.

You assume all risk arising from reliance on the Service or from performing DIY work.

5. AI-generated content

Guides and answers may be generated or assisted by artificial intelligence and automated systems. They are not guaranteed to be accurate, safe, or suitable for your specific home, skill level, or jurisdiction. Verify critical details independently before acting.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purposes.
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits, security, or access controls.
  • Scrape, overload, or reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by law.
  • Upload malware or content you do not have rights to use.
  • Misrepresent that Home Projects endorses, certifies, or inspects your work.

7. Your content

You retain rights to content you submit (such as project descriptions and questions). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, and use that content solely to operate and improve the Service (including sending it to subprocessors such as AI providers). You represent you have the rights needed to submit that content.

8. Our intellectual property

The Service, branding, software, and original materials we provide are owned by us or our licensors. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial DIY planning under these Terms. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute the Service as a competing product.

9. Third-party links and services

The Service may link to YouTube, manufacturer sites, retailers, DIY publications, PDF manuals, or other third parties. Links are selected automatically (including via search APIs) and may be incomplete, outdated, or mismatched to your exact product or model. We do not affiliate with or endorse those third parties, and we do not guarantee that a linked manual or article is official or correct for your situation. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices. Your use of third-party sites is at your own risk and subject to their terms. Always confirm instructions against the documentation that shipped with your product and applicable local codes.

10. Freemium and future paid features

Some features are free with limits (for example a limited number of questions per project). We may introduce paid plans later. Additional billing terms will apply before any charges. Until then, no payment is required for the free tier as described in the product.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, SAFE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR ERROR-FREE.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHARLES ROMEIS AND HOME PROJECTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE (INCLUDING DAMAGE TO HOMES OR FIXTURES), ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT — WHETHER BASED IN WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US $50).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Charles Romeis and Home Projectsfrom claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your DIY projects, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk, or for operational reasons. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitations, and indemnity) will survive termination.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Subject to applicable law, courts located in New York shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any jurisdiction.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. Material changes may be highlighted in the product or by email when appropriate. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where mandatory law says otherwise.
